Mutant Candlelight Pepper Seeds
Variety: Mutant Candlelight Pepper
Species: Capsicum annuum
The Mutant Candlelight Pepper is a unique and ornamental variety of pepper, known for its unusual appearance. The plant features elongated, thread-like leaves that give it a distinctive look, quite different from typical pepper plants. The peppers themselves are small, about 1-2 inches long, and grow upright in clusters. They transition in color from light yellowish-green to orange, and finally to bright red when fully mature.
This variety is mildly hot, with a Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) range of approximately 1,000 to 8,000. Despite its heat, the Mutant Candlelight Pepper is primarily grown for decorative purposes rather than culinary use. The plant remains compact, usually reaching only about 6 inches in height, making it an excellent choice for pepper enthusiasts and collectors.
Discovered around 2009 by Rauno, also known as Bluesman from Finland, this pepper is believed to have originated from a desert climate². Its unique appearance and limited practical use make it a fascinating addition to any ornamental garden.
